WELCOME TO MY WORLD- NIGERIA

I am a webmaster, a computer technician, an original Naija with attitude, extremely Naija. I am zealous about my country- NIGERIA, hence the crusade of spreading the goodnews about Nigeria.

Nigeria is endowed with great physical and natural resources that are yet to be fully taken advantage of. This great country- NIGERIA is also endowed with good, hospitable people. Nigerians who have made a mark in their various careers at home and in the diaspora, Nigerians who have contibuted positively to the augmentation of this great country- Nigeria.

I have taken it upon myself, like so many other patriotic Nigerians, to celebrate these people, in order to further, positively project the image of Nigeria through them, so that the next generation can have a bunch of "NEW NIGERIANS" to look up to and also to build our goals and aspirations around moving this country to greater heights and hence shift away from the mindset of "getting a bite from the national cake".

Every Nigerian, you and I want the country to be better, we want stable electricity, we want good roads, we want functioning and adequate basic amenities, but most of us have this stagnant negative mindset that we as a country are not going to get there.

Its hightime we changed this attitude, think positively, act positively and hope that this great country- Nigeria moves further forward. Let's help build Nigeria.

NIGERIA; KNOW THE COUNTRY

It is pertinent that I give a brief background information about Nigeria before I begin to talk about its achievements and that of its citizens in order to align the physical endowments of the country with its humanitarian acomplishments.

NIGERIA

Officially the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a federal constitutional
republic comprising thirty-six states and one Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The country is located in West Africa and shares land borders with the Republic of Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east, and Niger in the north. Its coast lies on the Gulf of Guinea, a part of the Atlantic Ocean, in the south. The capital city is Abuja.

The three largest and most influential ethnic groups in Nigeria are the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. The people of Nigeria have an extensive history, and archaeological evidence shows that human habitation of the area dates back to at least 9000 BC. The name Nigeria was taken from the River Niger running through Nigeria. This name was coined by Flora Shaw, the future wife of Baron Lugard, a British colonial administrator, in the late 19th century. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, the eighth most populous country in the world, and the most populous country in the world in which the majority of the population is black. It is a regional power, is listed among the "Next Eleven" economies, with aims of being one of the first ten economies of the world by 2020 and is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The economy of Nigeria is one of the fastest growing in the world, with the International Monetary Fund projecting a growth of 9% in 2008 and 8.3% in 2009.
